Habitat conservation and restoration
As we enter the 21st Century, there is a grave need to restore some
of the natural habitats that have been lost to agriculture and urban
sprawl. The future of our planet may indeed depend on it.
It is now well accepted that the earth is warming at an alarming rate, and is largely due to human activities. Along with climate change, a rapid decline in biodiversity due to loss of habitat is working to impoverish life on this planet.
Considerable scientific and NGO focus has turned to restoring forests and native vegetation in order to sequester more of the carbon that is pumped into the air by the burning of fossil fuels and the cutting down of native forests. Trees not only give shade, they recycle nutrients to the soil, increase rainfall, help clean the air, and replenish the oxygen we breath. By restoring the earth's natural cover, we allow it to heal and provide habitat for imperiled species to recover.

No property is too small to play a role in restoring
habitat. Even the tiniest residential yard can become habitat for
small wildlife, like birds, butterflies & dragonflies.

One
of the greatest challenges of our time is to conserve and restore the precious
natural habitats upon which healthy ecosystems depend. The staff of parks,
botanical gardens, museums, and educational institutions find themselves on
the frontline of the battle to reverse human caused
environmental deterioration that threatens our
way of life and the health of our planet.
Nature Works brings decades
of success-
ful grant writing experience within reach
of even small organizations. Also offered
are compelling publications and
consulting on habitat restoration.
To ensure that our children are left a healthy and living planet, we must all take responsibility - and action.
Not only must we learn to live more sustainable lives, we must restore the natural habitats which we, and our forefathers before us, saw only as economic resources to be tamed and harvested. Let's not leave our children a planet unable to sustain the rich biodiversity that still exists.
